There, I encountered genuine educators who dedicated themselves to nurturing capable leaders committed to the betterment of humanity. Having never truly enjoyed school myself, I was deeply moved by the warmth and care extended by everyone on campus.
Inspired by this experience, I resolved to pursue a career in education, eager to share the transformative power of Soka Education with as many young minds as possible. After completing my Bachelor’s degree in Education, I furthered my studies at Soka University of America, earning a Master’s degree in TESOL.

My teaching philosophy is cantered around the needs of my students. I believe in creating a dynamic and engaging learning environment that empowers students to become critical thinkers and active learners. I am committed to fostering a growth mindset and encouraging students to embrace challenges as opportunities for learning and development.
I am deeply inspired by the Soka University motto: “For what purpose should one cultivate wisdom? May you always ask yourself this question! Only labour and devotion to one’s mission give life its worth.” This guiding principle drives my teaching, and I strive to instil it in my students.
I am grateful for the opportunity to connect with my students and to be a part of their youthful journey. Their enthusiasm and dedication inspire me to be a better educator every day.

Ramon Paras received his BA in Liberal Arts from Soka University of America, concentrating in Social and Behavioral Science. He then attended Soka University in Tokyo, Japan for his MA in International Language Education: TESOL.
Before coming to SISM, Ramon taught at Kansai Soka High School, Junior High School and Elementary School for ten years. He focused on teaching University Preparation Classes and higher level English learners.
Ramon’s primary teaching method is to first create a heart-to-heart connection with the students in his class. Since no two students are alike, Ramon takes his time to get to know his students and their needs and then develop a plan of action to get students prepared for their future in the four communication skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking.
Ramon saw the opportunity to teach at SISM as a chance to apply what he’s learned from the Soka institutions he has attended and worked at, and also gain valuable insight as to how to realize his future aspiration of furthering Soka education in other regions of the world.
Having been a member of SUA’s 4th graduating class, and SUJ’s MA: TESOL 3rd graduating class, he is very aware of the countless struggles and hours of effort that accompany the early years of a Soka institution. Unbreakable unity and an open mind are crucial in navigating the various challenges and surprises that accompany the birth of a new program and institution.
Ramon believes in Soka education with all his life and he wants to see SISM blossom into a world-class institution that spreads Soka education far and wide.
